Nepathya's band singer Amrit Gurung popularized Nepalese folk pop song. Kalabang Gharedi is the village of the same musical hero. There are 157 families of Gurungs, Dalits and Brahmins living in village of Kaski, Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality-22.

The village is calm with clean environment. Its inhabitants are open-hearted, hardworking, and supportive. Panoramic view of the Pokhara valley from the hill above the village is mesmerizing. Fewa lake, Pokhara valley and snow-clad mountain views area awe-inspiring. One can witnessed Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchhe to Mt. Manaslu Himal.

There are three Shivalayas and a monastery in the village. Singer Amrit Gurung also has an old house made of stone, clay and tin. Rural lifestyle is found in the village. Sceneries of farming, fishing, milking buffaloes, plowing cattle can be sighted. Organic coffee farms can also be observed.

The Kalabang's houses are decorated with flowers. A community homestay has been started here on March 2015. Guests are accommodated in 18 houses of Gurungs, Brahmins and Dalits with hundreds of beds. Taste of organic dishes with traditional culture are main characteristics of the homestay. According to the guests' preferences Bhajan and dances are performed.

Access

Kathmandu-Pokhara 200 km, takes 6 hours by bus, or 25 minutes by air. Kalabang Gharedi is 15 km from Pokhara on the Siddhartha Highway along Syangja, just little above Tilhar leaving highway.
